Smita Divgikar(Desai) has been the recepient of Arjuna Award in Swimming, which is the highest award given by Govt of India and the Shiv Chhatrapati Award given by Govt of Maharashtra. Smita was a National Champion for 12 years and held various national records. She also held records at South Asian level. She has been an outstanding and popular swim coach producing more than 40 national gold medallists at sub junior and junior level. Coached for last 35 years at various clubs like Khar Gymkhana, Otters Club, NSCI, Ozone, Breach Candy, Bombay Gymkhana, Willingdon Sports Club and presently at Glenmark Aquatic Foundation. Smita has been coach of Maharashtra team, is nominated on the Khelo India TIDC committee, and on Greater Mumbai Aquatic committee.
